I find it so hard to believe that it has been almost 6 months since I have written a post. It was such an important part of my life before and following my surgery. It is not that I didn’t want to post; it was more that I could not find the time. I have had to learn how to juggle classes, two jobs and an increasingly busy social life.
There has been an enormous amount of personal growth during this journey and a realization that the journey is an ongoing process. I was recently compared to a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly with every day breaking with a beautiful new dawn. The total weight loss to date is 151.8 lbs. and a current weight of 243.0 lbs. and I feel great. I have reached a little plateau and have as of this week changed things up a little trying to push over the plateau
I have been ask several times recently to start writing post again and to catch everyone up. Try to keep up, this is going to be a busy reveal…….with lots of pictures too.
I celebrated my birthday with friends and JP at a Rangers Game, sadly we didn’t win and it was the last game I attended for the 2013 season. It was the first time I was able to see Darvish pitch, unfortunately he was injured and was not on the mound very long. I am ready for the 2014 season, I am hoping to beat my 5 game attendance that I set last year. So far I have solid plans to attend a game in June.
I started the second job and considering it is a different type of nursing I was surprised to learn how it could be so enjoyable. It has exposed me to an entirely different idea of nursing and I have actually considered new possibilities.
There was not one but two 5K’s walked in September, the first was a color run in Decatur. It was tough but I had great friends that took every single step with me. I was so excited that I finished, I walked my first 5K and then went on to work my first over night shift that night.
The following Saturday we walked in the Zombie 5K, we made tutu’s to wear and made our way past the zombie’s in the woods. It was so much fun!
In october I took a walk on the wild side and had my nose pierced! It is something I have always wanted to do but I was afraid of what others would think. This weight loss has changed a lot more than my size. I am essentially the same person. I just kept the real me hidden away from the rest of the world. Now I embrace her, I love her. Probably for the first time in my life I honestly love myself. I have confidence without arrogance and enjoy new challenges. I even appreciate and look forward to change.
During October I also gave up my iPhone and began using a Samsung Galaxy S4. I will be switching back to iPhone as quickly as possible for many reasons. I guess I have been an Apple too long to make a change, it has been 7 months with the new phone and I still can not do the things I can with the iPhone.
I went shopping to buy clothes for a reception and for a concert coming up in November. I decided on a sweater dress with leggings. I had a great time shopping and a wonderful time at the reception. I did not sit off by myself, instead I moved around the room and talked to many people I had never met. I had a great time and not once did I think of making a retreat.
The girls and I went to a David Nail concert at Billy Bob’s, the first concert I have gone to since I was 17! We had front table seats, too close to the speakers but we all enjoyed being that close to the stage. I can see this being a regular event.
As many of you know November brought the worst ice storm we have had in this area for as long as anyone can remember. I was stuck at the house for 5 days. So the ice storm and the Thanksgiving holiday came and went. It was time to decorate for Christmas and begin the holiday shopping.
I found the perfect gift for Mary this Christmas. I bought tickets for us to go see Scotty McCreery on February 15th.
There were finals and the holidays and the best Christmas I have had in years. JP stayed with me the last week of December and we celebrated with presents and movies. We discovered a new favorite in “Perks of being a wall flower” , if you haven’t seen it you should check it out. Jordan and Collin stayed one night with us on their way to a mission trip in Africa.
2013 ended without too much fan fare. It held so many changes for me it seemed there should be more celebration but for me, just hanging out at home watching movies with JP is a great way to end the year.
